About

A.C. Russell is a New York City–based director, writer, actor, and producer with a soft spot for morally questionable women, complicated families, and stories that make you laugh right before they break your heart.
After spending more than 20 years acting Off-Broadway, in commercials, and in independent films, she stopped waiting for permission and started making the kinds of films she wanted to see. Since then, she's written, directed, produced, and/or starred in over a dozen short films.
Her work has screened internationally, earning awards for Best Short Film, Best Actress, and Best Women Empowerment Short. Her latest short, Anastasis, was selected for the Camerimage 2025 Talent Demo, and she currently has several feature films in development.
Whether it's a Victorian murder mystery or a female-led Western, A.C.'s stories explore womanhood, family trauma, addiction, and the beautifully messy choices people make when they're trying to survive. She firmly believes that if you're going to tell dark stories, you should probably bring a sense of humor with you.

FEATURE - FEMALE LED - MURDER MYSTERY - PERIOD PIECE
Lucy Le Blanc is a sex worker in 1888 Oxford, getting by on wit, alcohol, and her bond with her sister, Annie. The two are inseparable until one night of excessive drinking ends with Lucy waking up on a riverbank, covered in blood, beside Annie’s body.
With no memory of what happened, Lucy becomes both the only witness and a possible suspect. The police quickly dismiss Annie’s death, but Lucy can’t let it go. Desperate for answers, Lucy turns to Archie McCormack, a disgraced detective with ties to her past. Together, they retrace her steps through brothels, bars, and back alleys, but the closer Lucy gets to the truth, the less she can trust herself. Her memory is shaky at best, her drinking clouds what little clarity she has, and every new clue raises the same terrifying question:
Is she hunting her sister’s killer, or trying to prove it wasn’t her?
